August 8th Sharing Time

We learned that Jesus Christ is a God of miracles. He healed the sick and made the lame able to walk. We learned about the miracles at the waters of Bethesda. Jesus Christ healed many people in the days that he was on the earth. He helped the blind see, the deaf to hear and the lame to walk. He did these things according to the faith of those he healed.

Today we have the holy priesthood to help the sick, the poor and the needy. The holy priesthood is the power of God on the earth.

May 23rd Sharing Time

We learned about the first ordinance of the Gospel--baptism. Jesus Christ was baptized when he was on the earth. We are baptized when we turn eight years old. We learned that we make a promise or covenant with Heavenly Father when we are baptized. A covenant is a two way promise.

We passed around a container while we sang a song. When the song stopped, whoever had the container opened it and pulled out a piece of paper that had one of these covenants listed on it. It was either a promise we make to Heavenly Father or a promise Heavenly Father makes to us when we are baptized.

We learned that these covenants are "renewed" every time we partake of the Sacrament in church on Sunday. Ask your children about what these promises are!

May 9th Sharing Time

We learned about strengthening our faith. Our faith in Jesus Christ is strengthened when we obey. We helped "Wimpy Wendell" get his muscles by deciding if what he was doing was strengthening his faith or taking away his strength. Every time he obeyed, we were able to put more "muscles" in his arms (balloons). By the end of Sharing Time, Wendall wasn't wimpy anymore! He changed his frown to a smile because his faith was stronger by obeying the commandments.
